June 11th - Paris / Eiffel Tower / Trocadero

Heading to Paris for our next adventure.

In Gare du Nord, we hadn't even been there for 5 minutes before someone tried to scam us. Natalie was getting train passes and this guy comes up in street clothes with a lanyard and a train pass inside it, trying to pretend he works there. Natalie told him to get lost and he moved onto a young girl that was traveling alone. Apparently they pretend to help you and do the switcheroo with your credit cards or trade you worthless passes for expensive ones. It was the only person that approached and attempted to scam us our entire time in Paris.

On the Eurostar. It peaks at 186mph.

The smallest elevator. We stayed at 22 Rue Duroc. It was a nice area where the streets weren't too busy and there wasn't a whole lot to worry about.

Our first dinner in France. These people don't know how to cook a steak to save their life. Seasonings don't exist, just beefonaise. I hate mayo so I passed on that and had a very bland overpriced steak. The drinks were good though.

Dean loved seeing the little car. This is a two-seater. I saw an even smaller car on the road that was a one seater.

Our first night in Paris.

Had to get at least one picture with a finger ruining it.

There were these ladies standing here taking the most ridiculous pictures for ten minutes. So once they left I decided to recreate their photo shoot. May have added an extra one of me kissing the light pole.

Walking to Trocadero.

This is all the kids wanted to do on vacation.

We took a walk through this park to see the flowers. I couldn't see anyone within 100 feet of me but I could smell someone that doesn't know what a shower is. That's Paris for you.

This is everywhere! I don't understand why the police don't really crack down on this.

This was disappointing to see. I couldn't believe the lack of national pride in Paris. The entire time we were there no one cleaned it up. The decline of what was once the greatest of nations.

Because they need a sign.

June 12th - The Louvre / Luxembourg Gardens

The Louvre. Art is not my thing but I made the best of it. A lot of short videos of me cracking immature jokes about all the nudity.

A bunch of short clips proving I'm way to immature for this place.

Just for Natalie. So she can look at it over and over again. I really don't understand the big deal about this. Much better art there in my opinion, that didn't take years to paint. Taking 16 years to pain this, it's no wonder she looks so angry.

I'm intrigued.

I remember all those wars fought tits out.

Something I didn't know. The Louvre was built on a medieval fort. We are standing in the moat that was cleared in 1983-1985.

For some reason Dean wanted a picture here.

Place du Carrousel. This is tiny compared to the Arc de Triomphe.

Walking towards Institut de France.

Paris had fountains to refill our water.

Looking for lunch was not fun. We started trying to get out of the Louvre around 1:30. It's a joke trying to get out. Then we find a Thai restaurant at 2:30 but they close at 3 until 7 and were only doing takeout. Of course there is nowhere to eat so we passed and then spent another hour looking for food. We sat down in another restaurant but everything had shellfish so we couldn't eat there. Finally we found a Chinese place. It was a lot different than American Chinese, but it was good.

Palais du-Luxembourg - 17th Century

Fontaine Medicis

My great-grandma from long long ago, Mathilde of Flanders.

Fatty Magoo & The Bag of Meringue

We started out the day with Notre Dame. Something I didn't know until this trip is that Notre Dame is on an island, and this is the site that my Great-Grandpa Rollo laid siege in 885. Notre Dame wasn't built until a few centuries later. At the time Cathedral of Saint-Etienne stood where Notre Dame was.

The Elevator Races

Notre-Dame of Paris was cool but I think overrated due to the crowds and restrictions. I enjoyed  Notre-Dame of Bayeux and Notre-Dame of Rouen a lot more.

The best crepes I have ever had and it's not even close. Their dinner cuisine might be dog shit but they sure know how to make a breakfast of champions.

The birthday girl.

Tour de I'Horloge du Palais de la Cite.

Back at Place du Carrousel. It was hot and way too sunny this day. Us Floridians were miserable.

The Louvre.

I think this is the National Scissoring Champion.

Watching my boys reaching for a purple heart.

The boys at the playground.

Another small car.

And another one.

We let Adri pick dinner that night. Ended up getting Italian.

At dinner we had to try to do something cringy for the kids.

Some more cringe for the kids.

Zach said all he wants to do is climb the Eiffel Tower. We got tickets and climbed as high as we could that night.

From the Eiffel Tower, the Arch de Triomphe. It's massive.

To the left by the golden dome shaped building was our air-bnb.

On the way to Versailles

This looks absolutely disgusting

This is the chapel from the first floor.

This is the same chapel from the second floor.

There was a wall of paintings of virgins holding their cats and inanimate objects. This one happens to look like my cousin.

This was my favorite room. I like the green walls.

Such violent babies, or cherubs.

More violent babies.

At first I thought this was the King's room. Nope.

This was the King's room. All threaded with real gold.

I found this picture quite interesting. I can only imagine being as ugly as these people, which no jaw line, and then telling someone just paint me as I am.

After touring the palace we got some golf carts and did an almost 2 hour drive through the gardens. The gardens were huge but not a lot of flowers. It was mostly trees, shrubs, hedges and fountains. They have rows of hedges, some like mazes. I'm not sure how far we went exactly but I'm guessing around 6+ miles. I can't believe some people were crazy enough to walk it. I think this is the day it was in the low 90s.

We stopped at the fountain show and returned to a golf cart with kids all over it and their parents taking pictures of them. Some people have no class.

Grove of Apollo's Baths, this was probably my favorite part of the tour.

Bassin de Flore

Le Grand Trianon

Arc de Triomphe. I had no idea this thing was so big. We got to walk up all 284 steps to the top.

From the top of Arc de Triomphe

Basilique de Sacre

June 15th - Family Pictures / Eglise Saint-Michel / Montmartre / Palais Garnier

This was father's day. We woke up early and had pictures taken from a professional photographer. He had an assistant carry a bag with all our stuff so someone wouldn't run off with it.

This was the only sketchy day we had in Paris. After our pictures we took the train for breakfast over by Notre-Dame. Coming out of the train station there are two hallways that lead to one exit and the trains hit each station every 3 minutes, meaning there's a lot of people every 90 seconds hitting that exit. Right at the bottom of the stairs is some dude in his 60s making out with a woman that probably isn't even 35 but looks late 40s due to heavy drug use. We get up the stairs and Natalie tells me he's fingering her. When we get to the top of the stairs we stopped to look for directions. I looked down and this guy opens his jacket and she drops on her knees and gives him a BJ. He looks up at me and smiles. I told Natalie "oh my gods, get the kids" and we took off.

After breakfast we went to Montmartre. The church looks really cool but that area, and specifically the side we entered from, were really sketchy. This is where we encountered the bracelet people. I was in front of Natalie with the kids and one of the guys approached her, she told him no and he grabbed her shoulder. Apparently she yelled at him but I didn't see any of it. It's probably for the better because I would have lost it.

Later that day, I think after the Opera house we were heading to a mall to look for some perfume, and the kids wanted to see the Lego store. It ended up being a huge waste of time. On the way there a guy walked around me and I thought he looked sketch. He went into a crowd and then I saw him put a cell phone in his bag and run 4-5 blocks before he stopped. The person he grabbed the phone from had no idea what happened.

Then that night the train was an absolute nightmare. Literally gave us nightmares. I was done with Paris after that.

Back for some more crepes.

Eglise Saint-Michel. This cathedral is known for it's stained glass. It was definitely the most impressive stained glass I've seen.

We thought this train was crowded, but it only got worse, so much worse, that night.

Pistachio & Orange Blossom Cake

They boys got a picture with Panda.

This leads to the sketchy part of town.

Montmartre, I thought the church was cool but the area was not great. Plus after a few days in Europe you don't want to see anything that isn't at least 500 years old.

Palais Garnier - The Opera House.

This was, in my opinion, better than Versailles. This was the best art, and interior of any building I saw in Paris.

This is fantastic.

Someone has a micro.

We went back to our apartment for a couple hours for a shower and quick nap and we were looking for food. I was getting depressed finding nothing good. In America if Natalie says Chipotle I yell blasphemy back at her. But I was desperate and mayo is not a spice. So we went to Chipotle and it was the best meal we had in France. Every one of us was happy at dinner that night.

This is what happens when the police show up. They wrap all their stuff up in a sheet and run away. The police do nothing, these people wait them out, then setup shop once the police leave. It's an absolute joke.

She found her boat.

Last night in Paris.
