Spring 2011

So it's been a long time since I've blogged. It's nearly winter and I'm finally writing about what happened in May. So there's a lot of catching up to do.

In late May Natalie decided to go to the Morikami Japanese Gardens to take some pictures of lil chubs. Adri was just learning to stand on her own and she was being quite a character that day. Our visit there didn't start out so great though.

Shortly after taking our first set of pictures lil chubs had snuck a piece of ice out of a cup while we put her back in her stroller and it's something I'll never forget. I was walking ahead of Natalie and her aunt because they walk too slow and I turned back and say Adriana choking. She was choking so bad she couldn't even make any noise. So I yelled for Natalie and she pulled out Adri and started smacking her on the back but the ice wasn't coming out. I'm a lot more cool headed than Natalie in these situations and after a good 15-20 seconds Natalie looked like she was about to have a breakdown so I grabbed Adri and took over. I started hitting her on the back and then I pulled her up and she still wasn't breathing so I hit her some more and then she started crying. I don't know if I knocked the ice down or if it finally melted, it will forever remain a mystery, but I was never so happy to hear lil chubs cry.

So after that of course everyone was pretty upset but Adri got over it really quickly and was being quite the character in her poses.

Here are a couple shots before the choking incident.

Here are some pictures right after her choking incident. As you can see she went right back to her happy self. We had a lot of fun setting her up for all these pictures. The only problem is once we got home we noticed that my iso settings on my camera had somehow got messed up so a lot of the pictures are grainy. This also happened to me in the DR. Not good. We had a lot of fun at this park but it was a little on the hot and humid side. The good thing is they had water coolers setup every couple hundred feet with really cold water and cups.

A week or two after we went to this park my parents came out for a cruise. My dad and I spent a lot of time around the house fixing things and doing home improvement stuff. We had recently had our house tented for termites so I had some fascia board to replace and my dad helped me install a whole house fan and an attic fan. In between projects we went to a couple parks and spent some time in the pool. One of the good things about S. Florida, you can stay in the pool all night. We were hanging out in the pool at 10 at night and it was 94 degrees in the water.

The first place went went was down to RobertIsHere and Everglades National Park. We took my parents down to the Gumbo Limbo trail. It was, of course, miserably hot and after about an hour of walking around we couldn't take anymore. We did see quite a bit of alligators that day but for some reason I don't have any pictures of them.

What did I say?

About a week after going to the Everglades we went back to the Japanese Gardens with my parents. Adri was tired though and not as photogenic that day.
