I'm sitting here in my office, living my normal life of quarantine, wondering what the hell is wrong with the world. A couple weeks ago we took of for Florida not knowing we were leaving at a time the world would turn upside down over a virus.
I always have a good supply of germ-x everywhere. In my house, my car, everywhere. Well when we went to Florida I left with only a small travel sized one thinking we could get a refill in Florida. What I didn't realize is that everyone would go bat shit crazy a couple days later and buy up all the hand sanitizer. Everywhere we stopped from Miami to Jacksonville they were out. We finally found some at the visitor's center in St. Augustine, hidden in the back behind the testers and overlooked by everyone else. 8 oz for $13. Enough to get through the week at Universal.

As the week went on people kept getting crazier and crazier. At Universal they were finally doing something they should be doing every day. Instead of standing around they were constantly cleaning rails. Hand sanitation stations were setup all around the park. We were there from Tuesday-Friday and left just in time. The park shut down for the rest of the month on Monday.
The funny thing is still, to this day, hand soap is stocked. But sometime during our Universal trip people started buying up all the TP. They weren't buying soap, just TP. Then the wipes, which aren't even antibacterial. It's insanity. People are doing stuff with no rhyme or reason. I heard one person try to say because the TP is made in China and the plants are closing, but that is complete BS, spread by social media.

Then by the end of the week they declared this a pandemic. Wow, that sounds scary. Really? Google "Pandemic". The term has nothing to do with how deadly a disease is.

The last night we were in Orlando we decided to fight fire with fire. The second day we were there we all started feeling a little weird. Do we have Corona, who knows. But I know for sure that night we all had some Coronas.

By this time I still had no idea the stupidity that was about to unravel. I mean really, this virus was made in China. How long can it last? Just wash your hands and keep your distance until it warms up. But know. People want to panic. After a couple months of denying this virus is a problem Trump completely takes a U-turn and bans all travel from Europe. That's a good way to really bring out the stupid in people. Now it was like Black Friday on steroids. People are complete assholes hoarding diapers, wipes, baby formula, etc. F*** the rest of us, they need to feel safe.

I know one person was feeling optimistic about Corona.
The next few days people are pushing lies through social media. Twice we were told by family or friends that domestic flights would be forced to stop and we would be stuck in Florida. Both people who told us this told us to watch a Trump press conference that never happened. They fell for the fake news bait designed to make America panic. Even now domestic flights are still going.
We finished off our week in Florida and flew back Tuesday night. We got home and unpacked and in bed 2am Wednesday morning. I was supposed to be working at 6am but had to go fight the morons at the store for diapers, wipes, and TP (no I wasn't going to stock up like a moron). I'm still unsure why so many people are obsessed with smearing poo all over their asses.
At least this guy made the right decision.
After going grocery shopping I stopped by a nursery for another fruit tree. All the fruit trees are now getting wiped out. A decade ago I started growing a nice orchard in Florida and told Natalie one day we might be forced to eat from our yard. She thought I was crazy. Well the new home owners are set because the mango trees, bananas, and everything else have turned my former yard into a jungle that looks different from all the other yards from Google Maps. But I'm there buying my tree wondering WTF is wrong with people. It's too late to start buying fruit trees. I go to Home Depot and it's the same thing. People are just now starting to garden. Something they should have learned how to do years ago. With no planning before the fit hit the shan, what is their long term goal? And what is with all the toilet paper?
I bough this mug at Universal. Sums up my thoughts of the week perfectly. People have no real plan. It's chaos.
The funniest thing is people who were anti-gun are now trying to buy guns and finding out you can't just buy them online. It's hilarious. Those that said only the police and military should have guns are changing their minds.
Now everything is cancelled. I believe I skipped that part. I don't remember exactly when but before we came back they cancelled school. The day we got back the government decided to start force closing restaurants except for take out. Good thing it's not contagious if the food isn't eaten in the restaurant.
I bought what I needed from the store and left. I don't need to hoard like an animal and add to the shortages but I got enough to get me through the insanity. The next day back at work someone is giving me crap about not cancelling my trip to Universal because even though I am healthy I can spread the disease. My response summed up in a meme.
So now I'm sitting here living my normal life. Quarantined with my family. School is cancelled, work is forcing people to work from home, and almost all life out of home is cancelled. I was supposed to go to an Insomnium concert in April but that is cancelled. They are from Finland and arrived in the US just to do one show from their tour before they had to pack up and go home. It could have bankrupted the band, however a gofundme and some other fundraisers were setup to keep them going. This was the first sign of the stupidity to come. I believe this happened the second day I was at Universal. I keep going back and forth like an episode of Narcos, so try to keep up.
So now the stupidity is government force closing businesses. They closed South Beach two days before we left Florida but we were still able to hang out at North Beach. My friend owns a restaurant which he has put 20 years into and they are forcing him to do take-out only. It's insanity. Everyone is looking at what the media feeds them instead of the raw data so they think this is justified.
I don't understand the mentality. The reality is this virus is unlike others so people are freaking out. But one of the two good things about this virus is that there is no U shaped curve on this one. It's mostly the older with other conditions that are experiencing severe symptoms or dying. Most children have no symptoms. China hasn't reported a single child death. America just reported the first child death, a 14 year old, but they don't share the details so everyone goes into panic. The kid had to have other health problems that sets him apart from the rest of the children that are mostly showing no signs of illness.

The media also pushed this story. People are looking at the wrong details trying to relate this to their own situations. This guy recovered from childhood asthma so that is not why he was at high risk. He had cancer four years prior to Corona. You aren't ever free from cancer, just in remission. Destroyed cells = can't fight the beer virus.

People are citing the high death rate, compared to the flu, but the problem is there is a low detection rate because it's so mild in most people. The death rate in America is 1.8% right now but the CDC says 6 out of 7 cases don't even get detected because they are so mild. In reality you can move the decimal over one or two spaces. You can't try to gauge the fatality rate during an outbreak. It's not accurate.

The information we are getting is so horrible and it's causing chaos. People are comparing what is happening in Italy to here. It's so far detached from reality though. Italy is a step above third world. They have poor infrastructure, they are lazy, they don't work 40 hour weeks, and they have different customs and personal space than America, and they have the second oldest population on the planet. It's comparing apples and oranges. When 1,000 extra patients overloads your hospitals and has them at 200% capacity there is an issue.
We did have some capacity issues in Washington but these problems are from our reaction, not the virus itself. If you hold a gun to people's heads, which quite literally happened with some forced quarantines, and you keep people in a hospital bed when they should be at home, yeah, you're going to have bed shortages. What if we forced everyone into quarantine with the flu? We had 45 million flu cases in American this year. Does anyone really believe our hospitals could handle that?
Here's the reality of the current situation. We have taken the risk from one group and delivered it to another. They say this virus would kill 1.5 million Americans this year, which is BS and I'll go into that in a minute, but lets look at the reality. The reality is there is 360 million Americans. The average life expectancy is 76ish. That means at least 6-10 million people are dying a year from old age or a combo of age plus a virus, infection, whatever. So even if the beer virus did kill 1.5 million, would it really be the root cause of their death?
Now let's talk about the exaggerated numbers. China claims 80,000 people got the virus in the last 4 months. California's idiotic governor got on TV yesterday saying 25 million Californians will have the virus within 2 weeks. Really? China is a disgusting place. We are much cleaner. So where is he coming up with these numbers?

Newsome has used fear to get a step closer to martial law. Because his state is going to solve this problem.
We are tanking our economy because of fear mongering. People are getting emotional and think their kids are at risk when in reality the chance of their kids dying from this virus is a fraction of a fraction of a percent. What are the odds of them dying in a car though? Yet they still put their kids in cars and go out for a drive. Would they shut down entire countries because they might get in a car accident? So why is this any different?
I've been told that I'm fear mongering when talking about potential economic collapse, martial law, riots, etc. All of these will have far more impact than just letting this virus run it's course. This is reality, not fear mongering. The beer virus killing us all is fear mongering and look where it's pushing us. Our economy could take decades to recover. Those who are so worried about their kids and don't like my survival of the fittest attitude might just get to see what real survival of the fittest is if this country falls apart. Things could get ugly, really ugly. All over a virus that would have run it's course in a few weeks.
Buckle up because things might be getting really ugly, really soon. I'm not buying this whole story that this virus is so deadly. None of the facts support this. Every couple years they try saying this new virus exist that is going to kill us all and it never happens. But this time they've gone full blown stupid. Looks to me like they are trying to see how stupid we are and how easy it will be for them to implement martial law. There's just too much that isn't right about this.

Warning
If you keep reading, you might get upset. Leave now if you can't handle it. It's all on you!
I said there were a couple good things from the virus. Here is the second one. It exposes everyone's BS. There are people who like to talk about their faith, power of prayer, how God is in control. They do reckless things and say "Oh well, when God wants me home it's my time". They are fatalist. Yet when this virus hits they aren't satisfied praying it away. They turn to government, science, quarantines. Then when it's over they might go back and praise the absent God for saving them.
I'm not trying to trash on everyone that is religious. I have my beliefs, they have theirs. But when people want to try to make laws and judge others based off their so called religious beliefs but they can't sit back and let God take control in a situation like this I find it laughable.
I was always taught God can move mountains. Yet a couple days before the government announced quarantines the Mormons cancelled live conference. Actually a few weeks before that they asked people from other countries not to attend because these old dudes are afraid of dying. They know they don't have a planet waiting for them. They know their prayer is useless against this virus. They know they're full of shit. They're still going to meet once a month though. They need to collect the tithing.
I've been trying to get the church to leave me alone for a long time. I had my name removed when I moved so they couldn't find me. Then my niece moved in with us for a while and they all know who I am. They'll talk trash about us in church, worried that my niece is living with heathens. But then they want to show up at my house to get me back. They want my money! They've been by three times in the last month, at 8:20 PM each time when my kids are in bed and I just want to relax and have adult time. They won't leave me alone so I won't leave them alone. Well looks like I get a break for a while. Missionaries aren't able to go door to door. Praise Thor!

And now, some extra memes for S&Gs.
