Visitors

A couple weeks ago Natalie's cousin came out for a visit. It's not that often we get visitors, especially not from the east coast. It's always fun having people over and letting our kids have some fun with people other than their parents. My kids have never met their cousins and I have only met Bibi's oldest son. Adri and her cousin acted like they'd known each other forever though and were instant BFFs. She's now asking us to change our vacation plans to go to New York this year.

They happened to come out the weekend of Zach's birthday and everyone else but one family that was invited either got sick or couldn't make it. Zach's birthday is a whole other post.

The day after Zach's birthday I woke up from a much needed nap and Bibi decided she wanted me to take her shooting. New York City girl never shot a gun and had it on her bucket list. So I took her out to the desert and we did some shooting with four of my guns. On the way back we ran into the biggest herd of burros I have seen, a whole 13 of them. I had to stop the truck and give them chase.

That night her husband arrived and the next day we went out to Sedona. Some storms were starting to brew, storms that got really bad later that week, and we had some mild snow hit in Sedona. It was a little on the windy and cold side so we spent most of the afternoon eating at two restaurants and getting chai tea at a cafe. A short trip to Sedona but always worth it. One of the reasons we moved to Anthem is that Sedona is only 80 minutes away. Of course it snowed almost the entire way home, all the way down to Bumble Bee. I have a whole other post, or two, coming about the storm that hit right after Bibi left.

Side note. I got a new phone recently, the Google Pixel 3 XL. The pictures from this post and the next few were all taken with my phone. It has an amazing camera.

It was a short trip but it was fun. They were here less than a week and spent a few days off on their own but the kids still enjoyed meeting their cousins.

How's that for an Sonoran sunset?

Some of the burros I was chasing around.

Dominicans only in this picture. Rodney and I got left out.

We had lunch at a restaurant with a few of Snoopy Rock. Can't see it in the pictures but it was snowing during lunch.
Locally brewed lager was awesome.

They got a hotel that night instead of going back to Anthem so they could go to the Grand Canyon the next day. We hung out in their room for a bit before dinner. We had a snow shower right at sunset and the hills lit up orange.

Zach decided he wasn't waiting to get home to go to sleep. Fell asleep right on the dinner table at El Rincon.
