Black Canyon South

About a month ago I decided to take the Black Canyon trail to the south. I would start out on the same hike as my hike with the cows but the goal was to get to the peak a few miles back. Unfortunately there are no signs marking the dozens of different trails there so I never even got close. I got to a point that was a couple miles from the peak and headed south thinking I could cross the canyons and head right up the mountain. Instead I ended up going back and forth trying to cross the canyons and ended up really far south. 6 miles into the hike I finally decided I had enough and turned back. It wasn't the most interesting hike I've been on but I did get to see some cool rocks towards teh end, a strange mutated cactus, and I got to hike up a creek and a dry waterfall.

The only rock pile around. It looked out of place.
There was an avalanche of white rocks here that looked like snow from far away. Looking at the top of the mountain it was solid white with rock so no doubt these were part of an avalanche.
Mutated cactus.
A group of really impressively gigantic saguaros.
In the wash. I like the colors in the rocks. Reminds me of Sedona.

The peak I was trying to get to. Can't tell from this picture but there are quite a few canyons to cross to get there.
