Octoberthon

Well Octoberthon has passed, and way too fast. It's been a busy month. The first week of October we went out to SoCal for a short weekend to do the Alzheimer's walk with my family. The next couple weeks we spent trying to catch up on things and recover from late nights watching The Walking Dead. I'm now going on three months of waking up at 4am on Saturday to go hiking up Daisy Mountain, yes I even go after staying up after midnight watching The Walking Dead. Nothing stops me from getting up that mountain every week.

A couple weeks ago we did our normal thing and took the kids to a pumpkin patch in Glendale. It was mediocre at best. They had fun rides for the kids and all but it was in the hood and all people we try to avoid we were there. I think it's the first time I have seen a wanna be gangster in this state in a few months. I commute an hour each way every day to stay away from the cholos and white trash and this place was full of them. On top of that it was near Disneyland prices for what they had and so crowded we couldn't get Adri on the good rides like the ATV train they built. I think this place had better rides for kids than the one in Queen Creek last year but I just can't stand being in the hood. I think next year we'll spend the extra money and go to a closer one in Scottsdale.

Halloween was a couple days ago. Now a little more than a month ago Adri put on my orange Crimshield shirt, some rubber gloves from the kitchen, her cowgirl boots, and a cowgirl hat and told me that she is No Nogin. No Nogin is a character from Curious George. He's a scarecrow that kicks hats. On the way to CA last month we thought we heard Adri say "No Nogin kicks ass". Natalie and I had a puzzled look and said what? Again, "No Nogin kicks ass". I thought where the heck did this kid learn that. So I turned down the Rammstein and asked again. "No Nogin kicks hats". Oh, he kicks hats, of course. So Adri has been saying for a while that she wants to be No Nogin for Halloween. Of course Natalie made Zach Olaf so she wanted Adri to be Ana. I said let the kid do what she wants. So they compromised and Adri dressed like Ana during the day and No Nogin at night. Her costume is pretty funny and it's 100% made by her.

So we started trick or treating Friday night and noticed a whole block was dark. When we got to the end of that street and got one street down where it backs up to the desert there was a block party. I could smell the bbq and was joking that I hope they are sharing. Once we got closer we could see they had tables set up in the street and they were sharing. Free ribs! So we stayed there a little over an hour and had to keep explaining Adri's costume to everyone. No we are not lazy dead beat parents that threw a big shirt and gloves on the kid so she can get candy. That costume was 100% 4 year old.

So that is our October. I threw in some pictures from our Nov 1st hike at the bottom. Yesterday I decided to take the kids for a hike around Daisy Mountain. No, not the same hike I do every weekend up to the peak, that would be insanity. But we took them to a smaller peak on a 3 mile hike. Most of the hike is flat but when we got to the steep part I had a backpack on, the baby bag, and Zach. So I did get a little workout going up this little peak.
