Bike Riding

This last summer we tried to teach the kids how to ride their bikes. It was a hellish experience. Adri was literally on the ground crying, afraid to get on her bike. We ended up returning her bike, two hours after buying it but kept Zach's bike.  Right around Christmas time I told Zach to get off his butt, he's learning to ride. He was crying and being a pain so I almost gave up on it but decided he's doing it like it or not.

After 20-30 minutes Zach finally got the hang of it and made it 5 or 6 houses down the street. Suegrita was over and decided it was a good idea to let Adri watch. So we pulled Adri outside and she was like "Hold my rootbeer, I'm doing this." Adri was being a real pain though and wouldn't let us help her. I ended up just walking away and focusing on Zach. Well to my surprise, after just 20 minutes Adri figured it out.

After that all they wanted to do was ride bikes. About a week later Natalie took them to Vegas to see her sisters and they brought their bikes and rode all weekend. After Christmas break all they wanted to do was ride bikes after schools. After just 2 months we took the kids on an 8 mile long bike ride down Carefree.

Showing the kids that even the fat man can ride Zach's bike.

One day during my lunch break I decided to take my bike for a ride. Nine years here and I had never taken my bike off road through the desert. I ended up doing eight or nine miles during my lunch break. I didn't realize how much wind was on my back until I had to turn back.

The road was pretty rough.

The biggest herd of burros I've ever come across. There must have been 30-40 of them.

I made it to about 2 miles from the new Taiwanese chip plant they are building off the 303.

Heading back. Looking at Gavilan Peak and Daisy Mountain.
