2020 started out a good year. But then the world went crazy stupid over a virus and it's been a train wreck every since. We are trying to make the best of it here, while resisting all we can to the stupidity that is going on.
Here's the short recap.
January - Economy doing good, Trump is guaranteed reelection at this point.
February - Corona Virus panic starts overseas.
March/April - Corona virus madness here.
May - Lift restrictions. Corona is no longer a problem. Start the race riots. Corona can't spread through riots.
June - Riots failed. Back to Corona panic.
It's absolute stupidity. One minute the whole country is locked down but the minute they want a race riot the leftist media forgets about Corona for a couple weeks. Now they've doubled down on stupid and are requiring face masks everywhere even though 3 decades of studies show they are counter productive and the left's God, Fauci even said it's mostly a symbolic gesture. I'm over this totalitarian BS. Businesses are being destroyed, suicide and domestic violence is up, and they're throwing gas on the fire because it's an election year.
I've used this opportunity to prepare my kids for the insanity of the world. A couple weeks ago Adri made me really proud. She was talking about how she wants to be a Chef and own a cafe when she grows up. We've seen how this BS has affected our friend's successful restaurant so I asked her if she really wants to still own a restaurant after seeing what the government has been doing. Adri says "I don't listen to the government." Adri hates the masks too, except when we want to mock everyone and go out with a gas mask and a plague doctor mask.
I could go on for hours ranting about the stupidity with this Corona scam. I've had to put off physical therapy for my back, massages, injections, and all kinds of stuff. It's all about shift risks from on group to another. They aren't preventing deaths, just changing the date with these lockdowns. Those who are at risk will still get it eventually and die. They have a dashboard and want to talk numbers, numbers, numbers without facts. Who cares about the age. Was the person a smoker, vaper, diabetic, obese, using street drugs? Facts matter, but we don't get the facts, just the fear. I have idiots telling me I don't wear a mask because I don't care about their safety. Forget the fact the moron that said this claims they have half a lung but they continue to smoke. They made poor choices now their scared and looking for someone to blame. I'm over it. If Corona has done one thing it's made me realize I hate half the population. If you don't support freedom I want nothing to do with you.
On to other things. It's been a crazy busy couple months here. I was finishing up my BS in Cybersecurity. School is pay per semester, not credit hour, so I crammed 18 credits into my final semester, while working two jobs, and having the kids home all the time. I nearly lost sanity but not only did a finish my BS a semester early, but I finished 6 weeks before the semester ended. I was really pushing to get it done before vacation and I met that goal.
In the early days of quarantine. Teaching the kids how to clean pool filters. Real life skills you don't learn in school.
When I went on my elk hunt I burned out my windshield wiper pump. It would have cost a couple hundred bucks to have it fixed at a shop so I decided to do it myself for 40 bucks, 30 for the pump and ten for new clips. The fun part is that the tire and the wheel well cover had to come off. It took about an hour to take everything apart, replace, then put it back together.
In May I decided to replace my mister heads on the back patio. I was using these cheap ones from Home Depot. I decided to buy the high pressure heads and what a difference. They let out .027 gallons per minute so all my heads combined drop about a gallon every two minutes. The pump is 1000 psi so with the ultra fine mist no water collects on the ground. I've been watching the temps on the patio and it drops the temperature 10-12 degrees when they are running. I was fixing everything late one night and the new heads weren't working. I flushed the line a couple times because the pump apparently had a leaky diaphragm. After a couple flushes I got everything fixed and it went from not working to mist all over the place. I felt like Griswald when he got his Christmas lights working.
We decided to get a new mattress this spring. We didn't just get any mattress though, we got one with a remote that can incline.
While we were waiting for someone to pick up the old mattress we put it in the living room. The kids got all setup down there and slept downstairs for a couple nights. They weren't happy when we got rid of it.
Dean used to be afraid of the vacuum until I had him help me use it. Now he has everything figured out and he's obsessed with it. Every day he takes out the vacuum and plays with it. This time I caught him bringing out the water too and he even knows which tank the clean water goes in.
Dean feeding his 3 favorite animals.
I don't know what Duck did to piss off Dean but it looks like he's about to become a meal.
Zach didn't get a kindergarten graduation. Instead they had to hold signs and do a drive by for the teachers.
Shoe thief.
Bear is Dean's favorite. Here he is feeding Bear.
Our friends finally decided they were coming out of quarantine and we had game night. I couldn't drink for a couple weeks after this. I was fine the first few drinks but then sipped on a half glass of fig vodka. First hangover I've ever had and I gave up drinking for a while afterwards. Around 10 that night their son came in and asked Natalie for waffles. When Jeremiah ask for waffles it doesn't matter what time it is, Natalie makes waffles.
My friend bought an ORV before all the crazy started so we have been riding around the desert. We found this spring a couple miles from our houses. It's dry right now.
Adri's 10th b-day party.
I've been talking about getting the kids guns for a long time. I was going to for their 8th b-day but decided to hold off. Finally I decided it's time for Adri to get her own gun. I got her an HK-416 and put a Magpul foregrip on it. It's an AR15 style gun but it's only in 22LR.
For Adri's birthday we went to dinner at Oreganos. I don't like the place but that is where she wanted to go. I told Natalie with all this insanity to call ahead and she didn't. Well we get there and there is a six person limit per table and they seat at every other table. It's complete stupidity. Well don't tell a Latina no. Natalie had a talk with them and we got all 8 of us in one table. They said as long as we can all fit. Um, don't think that is a problem since I'm not 500 pounds. That table could easily sit 12.
That's Dean's choo choo. He's obsessed with trains lately.
I got a hammock frame before vacation and was trying it out in the yard. Of course everyone had to try it out with me.
Before vacation I had to get some moles removed. I go to the dermatologist one day and even though they require masks they weren't enforcing. The next day the girl was giving me crap about not having a mask on. I told her the day before it wasn't an issue but she said it's policy. So I told her hold on and I went to my car and got my gas mask. I went back in and she wouldn't even talk to me. She looks at the girl at the counter and said I don't think I can take his temp with this thing on. I pulled it down and let her take my temperature. I'm over the stupidity. If people want to force me to wear a mask I'm going to make it as uncomfortable for them as it is for me.
Lately Dean has been building homes, complete with roofs, for his choo choos.
My sister came for a visit right before vacation. She was staying at Lake Pleasant so we stopped by to visit them one day. A couple days later my sister came over here and gave us all the Rona. Getting tested was a joke. My sister already tested positive and we all got symptoms five days later which is the average incubation time. I went to Glendale, and called first, but they weren't picking up. When I get there they are out of test. I call their hotline again when I get home late that night and they send me to Scottsdale the next morning where the line was long, it was hot, and everyone was told they would have to wait in their cars. I ended up going to HonorHealth up in North Phoenix and it was a little over an hour wait. The doctor said it's most likely the Rona but my test came back negative with a warning about how inaccurate they are and it's better to go off the doctor's opinion and consider who I've had contact with. What a joke.
A couple days after my sister left I got an epidural in my lower back to deal with the scar tissue growing on the nerves. This BS was delayed because it's "non-essential". My pain doesn't matter. I'm an essential employee that has to work but it doesn't matter how much my health declines during the lockdown. The doctor finally had to exaggerate and tell them if they don't get me an epidural I could end up in the ER at any moment. Before my epidural I was told this will suppress my immune system so I need to social distance for a couple days. The very next day I found out my sister has the Rona. Three days later all of us but Zach got the Rona. It was nothing but a weak cold.
Right after leaving my epidural we saw smoking coming from Desert Hills. I called up our friend since we leave our trailer there. She said everything is fine. Ten minutes later she calls me and says "Shit is getting real. Come get your trailer." The problem was that I couldn't drive because I had fentanyl and verced. So I called up my friend George and he was able to get over to my house right away. The reason he was home was because an employee of his got the Rona so he closed his restaurant for a week. So I wasn't supposed to be around him but I couldn't drive. I mean I felt fine like I could drive but I wasn't go to test fate and kill someone. Long story short he ended up testing negative for the Rona and I got it anyways two days later because it was already incubating in my system from my sister's visit.
By the time we got to Desert Hills the fire was on the Hatch's street and it was pretty bad. I didn't even hook up my sway bars. I just dropped the trailer on the truck and left. The fire was a 900+ acres after just two hours. It was obviously arson and was started in multiple different spots. They had a dozen aircraft fighting it when we got there and it was a 5 alarm fire with over 100 engines. By the time we got the trailer and were up I-17 the fire was getting suppressed and they lifted the evacuation on their house. I wasn't about to take the trailer back though with vacation coming up.
This is from I-17 before getting home to get the batteries and the hitch.
From the Hatch's neighborhood.
I decided I needed another mask besides the gas mask. Say hello to Plague Doctor.
Adri wanted to go shopping with me one weekend. I get a lot of laughs when I wear my mask but with Adri I got even more. A lot of people in this area are still resistant to this non-sense and got a good laugh at me being compliant while mocking the stupidity. The funniest thing is I went to Leslie's and the girl at the counter was laughing. I asked her if she knew who I am and she repeated my full name. Guess the mask doesn't hide my identity as well as I though.
