A little over a week ago we got to celebrate Zach's 3rd birthday. We are in the process of buying a new house so things are busy here and a trip to CA wasn't really convenient. So to make it work and get some use out of our season passes I took some time off work.
I'm gonna have to poke a little fun at someone here because I will never let this one down. On the way out there I get a text about how the worst storm in 6 years is going to hit Saturday and I should consider cancelling the trip. Some people haven't learned don't argue weather with Joe. I had been following the weather for 3 weeks and watching how they change each forecast and I was confident we would have a good weekend. Each forecast had the rain coming in sooner and sooner. So Friday when we got there the weather was rainy as expected. I had already changed Zach's birthday party from Sunday to Friday for that very reason since it was indoors for pizza. So we took the worst of the storm while eating pizza inside.
Saturday was our day for Knott's. My twin wasn't supposed to be there because of other things with her kids but her scheduled cleared up early and she was able to go. My little sister surprised us as well so we had the whole family there. I planned on leaving late in the morning to miss what was left of the rain but it cleared up even early than expected.
When we got there the park was empty. I got the kids through 4 rides in camp snoopy in just 15 minutes. Within 2 hours we had done nearly every ride in the park and there was no rain! It was so horrible. We actually got asked to ride rides a second time without even getting off them. I was very vocal with my sarcasm the entire day about what a horrible day it was to be at Knott's. I think it was actually the best day we have ever been there, even better than New Years which I was told would be bad as well but turned out to be below average crowds.
Between noon and 7PM we had had enough. My sister had left at five and left Ryder with us. We heading out for dinner then over to our room at the Knott's Berry Farm Hotel. It's a good thing I got a deal online because the rooms are outdated, renovation is going on, and I slept horrible. The next morning we got 3.5 hours in and were done. The park was much more crowded and we didn't have as many people there to help with the kids so we checked out early. I am officially old and get tired out easily.
I'd say it was a pretty good trip.
At Zach's party.
Saturday night Snoopy was in the hotel lobby. Zach walked past him looking out the corner of his eye with a crooked smile. The next morning Snoopy was back in the lobby and I tried to get Zach to take a picture with him. Zach stood back afraid. I tried to pick him up and get a picture with the three of us but Zach broke out in a tantrum. A half hour later he walked right up to Charlie Brown and gave him a high five and a hug.
Zach's favorite ride.
Close competition for Zach's favorite ride.
Took a picture with these ladies. Things escalated very quickly.
After a long day at Knott's.
Day two.
