Hiking In The Clouds

So this week we were supposed to go to Payson. I had a hotel booked and everything but the forecast changed to rain so we had to cancel last minute. The rain started up Thursday night and went on most of Friday. Friday I was driving past daisy mountain and couldn't see the peak hidden in the clouds. For a long time I have been wanting to hike up in the clouds so I decided to take an early morning Saturday hike in hopes that it would still be raining.

Saturday morning came and no rain. I was hiking in thick mud, it was humid, at the peak it was cold, but no rain. I could see some clouds off in the hills several miles away but nothing anywhere near me. So I was at the peak putting my sweater back on and getting ready to head down the mountain and out of nowhere the clouds came in. Not quite as good as being in a thick storm on the mountain but it was still pretty cool. The clouds were being funneled in from the north and once they passed Daisy Mountain they would spread out and disappear. This lasted about 15 minutes and then it was done.

The rest of the hike nothing exciting happened. But I can see the flowers starting to sprout so I think in a couple weeks the desert will be blooming and I'll be taking the kids out there for pictures. As for this next weekend I came up with a pretty exciting little trip for the family.

To the south, out by our house, pouring down rain.

That white stuff isn't snow. It's the clouds trapped in the mountains.
