September 2013

So it's been a while since I've updated my blog, with the exception of the model rocket post. It's been a busy month. On top of working two jobs I have been working out like crazy getting ready for the career change and trying to balance family life on top of that.

Due to all the stress I have been having headaches which keep me from sleeping which lead to worse headaches. It all started the weekend we went to Tombstone. I worked a 21.5 hour day, slept 4 hours, worked 11 hours the next day, then drove to Tombstone the next day. The headaches started, which made the light in the office irritate my eyes. I couldn't take it anymore so I had to get an eye appointment. I had a nearly perfect test when I tested for the new job last year but I wanted to get something to take care of the sensitivity to the light. Well my appointment went even better than my previous one. This one was more thorough and I came out with 20/20 vision. The doctor said I don't need glasses but if I want them he could get me some to help. So I got some glasses that make the text look bold with no shadow on the edges and they reflect all the bright light. I can't walk around with them but for reading on a computer they are great. At home my vision is fine on the computer but at work I don't know how I ever went without them.

A few weeks ago I was talking about Star Wars and Natalie finally decided it's time to see what all this Star Wars talk is about. Natalie loves to make fun of me for being a Star Wars nerd, having no understanding of how much Star Wars can teach people about life. So we decided to watch all six movies in one week. Adri liked some of them and behaved during the first 20-30 minutes before driving us crazy and getting sent to bed. After watching the movies Natalie is now a fan. I've seen them all in the past but there's nothing like watching them all at once. I'll have to do that again soon. From watching Star Wars an alter ego was born. Now when it's tickle time I become "Darth Ticklous". Adri's favorite character for some reason is Darth Vadar. For me it's Yoda.

A couple weeks ago on a Friday night we decided to go to Papago Buttes at sunset. We got there a couple minutes too late to watch the sun go down due to the fact that Natalie wanted to go back to Los Favoritos for a burrito, even though the day before she told me she would rather have Taco bell and she didn't like that place. The California burrito changed her mind.  I brought the black light to Papago and we did some scorpion hunting. Natalie got creeped out and wouldn't get close. She said it made her want to throw up. I don't understand it.

A couple weeks ago we also decided to take Adri to the kiddie casino, Chuckie Cheese. I have to say, it's not what it used to be. There's no longer a ball pit and half the games don't work, aren't age appropriate, etc. I swear I heard f-bombs coming out of that stupid dancing arcade game. Still Adri had fun there. Afterwards we stopped by a local gun shop and started shopping for a handgun for Natalie. We didn't purchase one yet, but we got an idea what we'll be getting. In the lead right now are the Sig P226, Baby Glock, and S&W XD. As for me, I was checking out the 1911. I will get one long before Adri reaches dating age. Nothing says keep your hands off my daughter like a 1911 on the living room table. I'll probably throw her date a bullet when they leave and tell him it goes faster after 10PM. Lol, But that's 20 years away.

That night I went home and cleaned my Glock. Adri was very interested in what I was doing and wanted to help. I gave her some cleaning supplies and let her get to work. The next day I cleaned my S&W .38 special and she wanted to help me out again. I had to get rid of the kid when I cleaned my Ruger 10/22.

Last week we had my work party to celebrate one year on our contract. It was kinda cheesy but Adri had fun. We did some mini golf which was a lot of seeing  Adri's butt crack, a lot of Adri throwing the ball, and a we rode on the go carts (her favorite part of the day).

Two days ago I went to get a haircut and brought Adri with me. While waiting we went over to Target. Adri kept playing with all the Star Wars toys. She ran over to the Vadar Mask (changes your voice to sound like Vadar), picked it up, put it on, and said "I'm your father". She ended up convincing me to buy her a Doc McStuffins DVD before we left.

And that is my month.

Some of the crazy things Adri has said lately.

"Little Mermaid is coming out on DVD Ray. I think they should make Orange Ray"

At dinner a couple nights ago she was talking about poop and said that "It's yucky like Obama, Obama is bad and disgusting." It was a proud moment for me.

As I'm writing this Adri farted next to me and said "There, you deserve a fart".

Adri keeps talking about when she was big and I was small. I don't think it works that way. I think I mentioned in another post that she said when she get's big I'll be in a baby seat and she'll drive me around. She also talks about carrying me when I get small.

She looks at my stomach and tells me "I like you just the way you are". Then she saids "Your stomach is strong, let me give you raspberries. Oh, you're belly sounds like a tuba."

At Target she named me "Cactus Head". She also randomly said to me "So how was your day at work Daddy?" Lately she loves to ask about my day.

"You're kissing me off".

When laying in bed she was talking about shadows on the wall. I told her to yell to Natalie "Mommy there's a Sharknado in here". She did it and now she keeps talking about the Sharknado. Earlier this month we watched the last 30 minutes of the movie just to laugh at the pure stupidity of it.

A couple weeks ago when cleaning my gun she decided that I'm getting her upset and I need to be put in timeout. When I wouldn't go into timeout she went to her room and pouted and told me I'm making her upset.

About a week ago Adri peed herself a little on the couch. Later that night I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed and she came in and closed the door and said we needed to talk about it. Natalie as calling for her through the door and she said to leave us alone because we are talking. Natalie tried to open the door and Adri pushed it closed, locked it, and said "Ok now we can talk". The next morning she came into the bathroom again and closed the door and said she needed to talk to me about last night so I won't be upset.
Here are some pictures from the month.

Walking around the park after a morning of rain.
Adri wanted to see all the water rushing in.

At Papago buttes.

Scorpion hunting
The first time I have seen two of them this close together.

Adri's winnings at the Kiddie Casino.

Teaching her early.

At church. This is what happens when she gets crazy. I take her outside to pick flowers. I told her to get the wiggles out and she bent over and started shaking her butt. Crazy kid.
After church. Cleaning the .38.
At my work party. There was a lot of butt crack on the min golf course.
